Understand GL Account Search Result Columns
PATH: Accounting > General Ledger > GL Account Maintenance
When searching for GL accounts in Q360, the GL Account Maintenance quick search grid displays key account details in the results. As of version 26.02, the grid includes additional default columns so you can identify the purpose and classification of each account without opening individual records.
Accessing the GL Account Search
- Navigate to Accounting > General Ledger > GL Account Maintenance.
- Use the quick search field to search by account number, description, or other criteria.
- The results grid displays matching GL accounts with the columns described below.
Search Results Grid Columns
The following columns appear by default in the GL Account search results grid:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Bank Flag | Indicates whether this GL account is designated as a bank account. |
| Status | The current status of the account — Active or Inactive. Inactive accounts are not available for transaction posting. |
| Category | The primary classification category assigned to the account (for example, Revenue, Expense, or Asset). |
| Sub Category | A secondary classification that provides more granular grouping within the account’s primary category. |
| Job Cost Type | The job costing type associated with the account, applied when the account is used on job cost transactions such as project or service call expenses. |
| Job Cost Class | The job costing class associated with the account, providing a further level of classification for job cost reporting. |
| Fixed Flag | When set, indicates that transactions posted to this account contribute to fixed revenue reporting. |
| Project Revenue | When set, indicates that transactions posted to this account contribute to project revenue reporting. |
| Recurring Revenue | When set, indicates that transactions posted to this account contribute to recurring revenue reporting. |
| Variable Revenue | When set, indicates that transactions posted to this account contribute to variable revenue reporting. |
Notes
- All columns listed above appear in the search results grid by default. You can show or hide columns using the column chooser.
- The Report 10 through Report 13 flags control how GL account balances roll up into each revenue report category. A single account can carry multiple report flags if it contributes to more than one report type.
- Job Cost Type and Job Cost Class are most relevant for accounts used on projects or service calls where job costing is tracked.
- Inactive accounts remain visible in search results but cannot be selected for new transactions.
